The tassels of corn can be utilized as a co-product for the production phytochemicals. objectives were to assess impact pigmentation and genotype on levels anthocyanins, phenolic compounds antioxidant activity, determine phenotypic stability these traits. Sixteen genotypes evaluated at two locations over seasons. Corn in purple or pink group had higher anthocyanin concentration DPPH radical scavenging activity tassel than those normal green group. Tassel color used selection criterion improve but trait is not effective predict tassel. Genotype an important source variation all parameters. sensitivity with high measured environment indicates importance choosing suitable seasons high-quality grain vegetable corn. findings this study valuable producers who intend select phytochemical tassels, well breeders aim develop improved varieties yield bioactive phytochemicals
